Entrepreneur

Giuseppe Locati began his career as an entrepreneur while still at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, patenting “Steel Geodesic Structures” in 1966. In 1967 he designed patents for the manufacture of skis; in particular for the Flying Kilometre (Km Lanciato). He joined the family firm, the "Officine Locati”, founded by his father in 1925 to build steel security closures, and at the same time was active in the real-estate sector through the construction, purchase and rental of numerous industrial complexes. He put his skills as an artist to use in the industrial context too, producing technical project drawings at the drafting table and inventing new machinery and materials. In 1996 he won the International Packaging Oscar award organised by “Il Sole 24 Ore”. In 2004 he won first prize, funded by the Lombardy Region, for an innovative industrial plant. Giuseppe Locati was always careful to keep his company technologically at the cutting edge. In 2013 he was named Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic by Giorgio Napolitano. Many would feel content, but Giuseppe Locati is tireless, and in 2015 he filed the patent for a new material for thermal and acoustic insulation, and two years later opened a new company to manufacture thermo-acoustic panels.

Besides his professional work and his family (he is married to Elisabetta "Betty" Galimberti and has two children), he devotes himself to sport, completing numerous marathons in addition to his beloved Monza–Resegone, to photography, and to travels that take him to every corner of the planet, from the North Pole to the centre of Australia.
